AfterViking Access Control Installation: The Agoura Hills Owner’s Guide

There are aftermarket equivalents for some Viking loop detectors and power supplies, and we will use them when they make sense and meet spec. For the main control board inside a Viking operator or entry panel, we will not cut corners with a generic substitute. The OEM board is the part that talks to everything else, and a no-name clone that works for six months is not a bargain in Agoura Hills, where summer heat and morning marine layer take turns stressing outdoor electronics.

DIY or Call Us?
Viking access control boards run on low-voltage DC power, so the shock risk is minimal compared with a 120V panel. The real hazard is to the equipment. A miswired relay, a reversed polarity feed, or a stray strand of wire across the wrong terminals will destroy a new Viking board in the time it takes to power it up, and that is a $400 mistake before you have even bolted the enclosure shut. Electrical work on your gate system should be done by someone who has metered a Viking board before.
What you can safely do is check the obvious: make sure the breaker for the gate is on, look for a tripped GFCI at the outlet the gate draws from, and inspect the keypad face for cracks that let water in.
